A Decade Apart: Borg vs McEnroe in Bangkok

Asian tennis fans are in for a treat as two tennis legends, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, come together for a showdown in Bangkok on November 22.

This highly-anticipated match is part of a series of tennis legends' tour in Asia, including Malaysia and Macau.

The event also marks the official opening of the new headquarter of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT), which recently celebrated its 81st anniversary.

The match will be played in a best-of-three sets format with a super tie-break in the third set. Local tennis players Paradorn Srichaphan and Danai Udomchoke will join Borg and McEnroe in a doubles match.

Borg, 52, and McEnroe, 49, were tennis icons of the 1980s. McEnroe won 11 Grand Slam titles, while Borg won seven.

One of the most remembered matches between the two was in the 1980 Wimbledon final, where Borg defeated McEnroe in five sets while still using a wooden racket.

Tickets for the match are priced at 1000 and 2000 baht.
