Tereza Valentova Outlasts Elina Svitolina in an Uplifting Thriller at Cincinnati
Elina Svitolina vs Tereza Valentova · Round 2 · Cincinnati Tennis.com - A nail-biting encounter...

The Sunday at Alpine in the GP de Barcelone de F1 2026 was off to a bad start. However, Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly both ended up with points. Which allowed the French team to consolidate their 5th place in the world constructors' championship and put a smile on Flavio Briatore's face.
13th place on the starting grid for Franco Colapinto, 14th place for Pierre Gasly, Alpine was poorly placed to start the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit with both cars in the points this Sunday for the seventh round of the world championship. And yet, the two drivers from the French team perfectly negotiated the race: Pierre Gasly finished seventh, while Franco Colapinto finished tenth. A total of seven points, enough to please Flavio Briatore:
"The team has made a great comeback considering where we started today. To launch well in the top ten and finish with both monoplanes in the points is a good operation… Congratulations to Pierre and Franco for their cooperation and team work to maximize our result and earn as many points as possible, which remains our top priority."
However, the Italian boss of Alpine gives the direction to follow for the next races:
"Our car seems more performant and competitive on Sunday than on Saturday, and we must quickly find solutions to improve our performance."
The calculation is simple. If Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto can better place themselves on the starting grid, they can more easily catch big points or podiums. Which is the objective for this 2026 season.
More than the two Alpine cars in the points on Sunday in the race, the notable fact of this Grand Prix de Barcelone de F1 is the first victory of Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari, 30 years after the first victory of Michael Schumacher with the Italian team. Flavio Briatore welcomed the return to the top of the seven-time world champion:
"Congratulations to Ferrari and Lewis (NDLR: Hamilton) for their victory. It's always wonderful to see a champion like Lewis back on top of the podium, so bravo to them for this fantastic race."
