Andreeva Defeats Parks, Sets Up Quarterfinal Clash with Swiatek in Stuttgart

Andreeva extended her winning streak to six matches after defeating Alycia Parks in the second round of the Stuttgart Open. The sixth seed won 7-6(3), 6-3 at the Porsche Arena on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Andreeva came into the match with high confidence after winning the title in Linz the previous week. She has also been undefeated on clay courts throughout the season.

The 18-year-old player started aggressively, breaking her opponent's serve in the first game. After that, she maintained a slight lead in a closely contested duel.

Parks forced a tie-break in the first set after coming back from a 3-5 deficit. However, her numerous unforced errors prevented her from maintaining the momentum of the match.

The American player committed 41 unforced errors, in contrast to Andreeva's six errors.

In the second set, Andreeva dominated and won the match in two straight sets.

'I'm very happy that I was able to stay calm throughout the match. There were moments when I felt a bit tense because every point was crucial,' Andreeva said after the match.

The result propelled Andreeva to her fifth quarterfinal appearance of the 2026 season. In the next round, the Russian player will face third-seeded Iga Swiatek from Poland.

The upcoming match will be their fourth encounter and the first on a clay court. The match is expected to be a tough challenge for Andreeva, considering Swiatek's previous two championships in Stuttgart.

However, Andreeva has a decent record against Swiatek, having won two of their previous three matches in Dubai and Indian Wells in 2025.
