Apple Releases Second Developer Betas of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6

Apple iOS iPadOS Firmware Updates

Apple is still actively working on iOS 26, even though the company is gearing up to release iOS 27. The latest update, iOS 26.6, is now available in its second developer beta. iPadOS 26.6 is also receiving the same beta treatment, along with watchOS 23U5040d and macOS 25G5043d.

The release notes for the second developer beta don't mention any new features, suggesting that this update is primarily focused on polishing existing functionality.

iOS 26.6 developer beta 1 introduced a security upgrade for Apple Maps, as well as a warning in the Contacts app for users who have reached the maximum number of blocked listings (20,000).

It's worth noting that iOS 26 devices are expected to remain compatible with iOS 27, although older devices may not have full support for all Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features.

Based on previous release patterns, we can expect the stable version of iOS 26.6 to arrive in a month or two.

You can expect these updates to roll out before iOS 27 is ready for prime time.
