ATP Halle: Day 1 Predictions Including Flavio Cobolli vs Frances Tiafoe

This year's ATP 500 event, the Halle Open, features a strong field including recent French Open finalists Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli, last year's Halle finalists Alexander Bublik and Daniil Medvedev, and many other capable grass court players. It will be an exciting week of tennis at the Halle Open.

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Nuno Borges: Borges won their only previous meeting at the Australian Open this year, but Aliassime's injury likely played a role there. Although Borges has had some solid performances on grass before, Aliassime's game is better suited to the surface and he should be considered a dark horse for Wimbledon. Despite being inconsistent and prone to losses, Aliassime should still prevail here.

Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Jule Sillitt: Kokkinakis should have an experience advantage in this matchup. The German has never won a match at the ATP level and may struggle against Kokkinakis, who has shown the ability to play solid tennis on grass. Under normal circumstances, Kokkinakis should win with relative ease.

Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Rudolf Molleker: Basilashvili played excellent tennis to qualify for the main draw and has an impressive draw against Altmaier, who tends to play his best tennis on clay. Basilashvili has been slowly climbing back up the rankings and may get another important win here as he approaches a return to the top 100.

Roberto Carballes Baena vs Pedro Martinez: Martinez is on a five-match losing streak and his performance against Borges last week was not encouraging for his grass court season prospects. Carballes Baena, on the other hand, is on the rise and showed good form on grass during qualifying and last week in Stuttgart. Under normal circumstances, Carballes Baena should pull through here.

Frances Tiafoe vs Flavio Cobolli: Tiafoe leads 3-1 in their head-to-head, and he has generally played well on grass in recent years. Although Cobolli played very well at Wimbledon last year, he may still be recovering from the disappointment of the French Open final.
