Breeze Airways Unveils Ambitious Expansion: 19 New Routes Launched This Week

Breeze Airways has announced the launch of 19 new and returning routes between July 1 and 3, marking a substantial expansion of its network. This move will see the airline operate 353 routes in the first week of next month, with 346 being domestic and six international. The airline's focus on brand-new markets that have never had nonstop service or were previously flown by another carrier explains its low average frequency of two flights a week. This approach allows Breeze Airways to capitalize on untapped demand and establish itself as a pioneer in the industry. By concentrating on leisure travelers and small to medium-sized cities, the airline is able to offer unique routes that cater to niche markets. As a result, Breeze Airways is poised to become a significant player in the aviation industry, with its innovative approach and commitment to expansion.

The 19 airport pairs were identified using OAG data to examine Breeze's entire network from January 1, 2025, to June 29, 2026. The findings were then compared to what is scheduled to operate between July 1 and 3. 17 of the routes are brand-new to Breeze's map, while two were served before. This significant expansion is a testament to the airline's dedication to growth and its willingness to take calculated risks. By entering new markets, Breeze Airways is able to tap into unmet demand and establish itself as a major competitor in the industry. The airline's ability to adapt to changing market conditions and identify potential opportunities is a key factor in its success. As the aviation industry continues to evolve, Breeze Airways is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging trends and establish itself as a leader in the market.

Seven of the routes will have head-to-head competition with at least one other carrier at the airport level. This includes Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Punta Cana, although Frontier Airlines pulls out in August. 63% of the 19 upcoming routes won't have direct competition at the airport level. While this may seem like a challenging environment, Breeze Airways is confident in its ability to compete and establish itself as a major player. The airline's focus on niche markets and its willingness to take calculated risks will enable it to navigate the competitive landscape and emerge as a successful operator. As the airline continues to expand its network, it will be essential to monitor the competitive environment and adjust its strategy accordingly. By doing so, Breeze Airways will be able to maintain its competitive edge and achieve long-term success.

Several of the markets have had nonstop flights before, including by the now-defunct Spirit Airlines. It is critically important that airlines keep full abreast of market changes to help identify potential opportunities. That's why Breeze is entering some of the markets, such as Orlando International Airport (MCO) and TPA to Atlantic City, which was part of Spirit's network until earlier this year. Spirit also operated some of the other 19 routes this year, including Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Charleston International Airport (CHS) and TPA. By analyzing market trends and identifying areas of unmet demand, Breeze Airways is able to make informed decisions about its network expansion. This approach enables the airline to minimize risk and maximize returns, ultimately driving long-term growth and success.

Most of the airport pairs are either currently served or have had nonstop flights in the past, whether recently or not. For example, Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) to Birmingham was last served in 2008 by Expressjet. Meanwhile, Delta Connection flew from Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to Greenville-Spartanburg until 2013. Cincinnati was once a Delta hub. The fact that many of these routes have been operated in the past suggests that there is a latent demand for nonstop service. By re-entering these markets, Breeze Airways is able to capitalize on this demand and establish itself as a major player in the industry. As the airline continues to expand its network, it will be essential to monitor market trends and adjust its strategy accordingly. By doing so, Breeze Airways will be able to maintain its competitive edge and achieve long-term success.

Brand-new routes, which have not had nonstop flights before, are particularly noteworthy. Some make my weekly new routes article. Four of the 19 additions are brand-new: Akron-Canton to Portland, Maine; FLL to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton; FLL to Salisbury; and RDU to Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH). The US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that not even American Airlines served the route to Florida's capital when RDU was a hub. These brand-new routes demonstrate Breeze Airways' commitment to innovation and its willingness to take calculated risks. By entering untested markets, the airline is able to establish itself as a pioneer in the industry and tap into unmet demand. As the airline continues to expand its network, it will be essential to monitor the performance of these brand-new routes and adjust its strategy accordingly.
