Canadian Woman Accused of Assaulting Teen Over Anti-Trump Garb

A disturbing incident has left many shocked and outraged after a Canadian woman was taken into federal immigration custody for allegedly slapping a teenager for wearing clothes with pro-Trump and ICE logos on a New Jersey boardwalk.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a video on X that appears to show Kaitlyn Tracey, a 33-year-old Canadian woman, approaching a group of teenagers, including a 13-year-old girl, on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk in New Jersey on April 29, 2024. According to the video, Tracey allegedly began berating the group over their clothing, which displayed the words 'Trump' and 'ICE', before striking the girl in the face and body.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital stated that the alleged victim told police she and three friends were walking along the boardwalk when Tracey approached them, verbally assaulting them over their clothing. The affidavit further stated that two of the victim's friends were wearing patriotic sweatpants displaying the words 'Trump' and 'ICE', which allegedly sparked Tracey's anger. Tracey's husband, Matthew Geroni, disputed the allegations in an interview with NJ.com, arguing that the incident had been blown out of proportion after drawing widespread attention online. Geroni claimed that the situation was a 'nothingburger' when it happened and that his wife had never been in trouble with the law before. However, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson later told Fox News Digital that Tracey entered the United States on April 14, 2024, on a visa that expired on September 6, 2024, but remained in the country after it expired.

The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many taking to X to express their outrage and support for the alleged victim. Representative Riley Moore (R-W.Va.) wrote, 'Oh, Canada. She's headed back your way! Thank you, @SecMullinDHS!'

Kaitlyn Tracey is currently in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody pending removal proceedings. Her attorney, Francis R. Hodgson, declined to comment when reached by Fox News Digital. Court records show that Tracey is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court on August 4.

The incident raises questions about immigration enforcement and the treatment of foreign nationals who overstay their visas. It also highlights the complexities of immigration law and the challenges that law enforcement agencies face in enforcing it.

In related news, Fox News Digital's Charles Creitz and Kelsie Cairns contributed to this report.
