Carlos Alcaraz: The Reigning Champion of Monte Carlo 2025

Carlos Alcaraz, a 21-year-old Spanish tennis player, emerged as the champion of the Monte Carlo Masters 2025 after defeating Lorenzo Musetti from Italy.

Alcaraz began the final match slowly and lost the first set, but he took advantage of his opponent's injury to win 3-6, 6-1, and 6-0 at the Court Rainier III in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

The young tennis player expressed sympathy for Musetti, who managed to finish the match despite his condition, in pursuit of the biggest title in his career.

'This is not the way I wanted to win the match. It's not easy to end like this. I hope it's nothing serious and he will recover 100 percent,' Alcaraz said.

Alcaraz secured his sixth ATP Masters 1000 trophy and his first since Indian Wells 2024, after overcoming a difficult week that included a surprising loss to David Goffin in the second round of the Miami Open 2025.

Before that, he reached the semifinals at Indian Wells 2025 to keep his title hopes alive but was defeated by Jack Draper.

'This month has been tough for me, both on and off the court. Coming here and seeing my hard work pay off, I'm really happy,' he said.

Carlos Alcaraz was born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain. He has held the number one ranking in the world and has won a total of 18 ATP Tour singles titles, including four Grand Slam titles.

Alcaraz won his first Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open in 2022 at the age of 18 and has since added several more titles to his name, including the Madrid Open and Indian Wells.

His first Grand Slam win came at the US Open in 2022, making him the youngest player to reach the top ranking in the Open Era.

Currently, Alcaraz is ranked second in the world, behind Jannik Sinner.
