Swiss-Brazilian alt-pop artist Caroline Alves has unveiled her captivating new single, "Innocence." This dreamy and emotional track, produced by Louis Ryan (known for his work with Hozier and Karen Harding) and released through SOAP Music, perfectly encapsulates the thrilling recklessness of diving headfirst into love before life experience offers a cautionary tale.
"I wrote 'Innocence' about the beautiful chaos of loving someone with your whole heart before you know better," shares Caroline Alves. "It's about being naive enough to believe love can heal everything. For this track, I approached the songwriting differently, aiming for a very descriptive style that evokes imagery or a cinematic feel, as if you could create a painting or a script from my lyrics."
The song gently shimmers with a pulsing bassline, carrying tender and longing lyrics that subtly warn of the intensity of the emotion. As Alves sings, "diamond flash like a heart attack / you tear my heart, and I still come back," the repeated refrain "I still come back" towards the end of the song hints at a dawning realization of the futility in expecting different outcomes from the same passionate pursuit.
"Innocence" is a bright and catchy anthem, boasting a hook so compelling it's sure to have listeners hitting repeat.
