CdM 2026: Mandi, 'We're Well Prepared for the Group Stage'

With just a few hours left before the highly anticipated match between Algeria and Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, Aissa Mandi exuded a mix of confidence and determination.

'I think we have a lot of confidence, and this confidence comes from our preparation. We've been very well prepared, not just for Argentina, but for all three group stage matches,' explained the Algerian vice-captain.

Mandi believes that Algeria has all the necessary ingredients to achieve a good run in the tournament. 'There's a lot of humility, confidence, and ambition in this team for this tournament,' he added.

Aware of the challenge that comes with facing the reigning world champions, Mandi emphasized the importance of collective organization. 'We've been very well prepared to defend, both individually and collectively. But most importantly, as a team, because this type of game is managed primarily as a team,' he underscored.

When asked about his role among the younger players in the squad, Mandi preferred to focus on the daily work. 'I don't have a specific advice to give them. The key is to be well-prepared every day. We're dealing with players who compete in major competitions in Europe or Africa,' he said.

Mandi did mention, however, that the experienced players are available to share their experience. 'If they need advice, they can come to me, or ask Mahrez or Bentaleb. Even though our last World Cup experience dates back a long time, we still have very good memories of it, and we can help them through this experience,' he added.

In conclusion, the defender addressed a message to Algerian fans: 'I hope our supporters will be behind us and proud of us,' he said.
