Charles Leclerc bagged another impressive win for Scuderia Ferrari as he secured a second-place finish in the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix. Starting from the second spot behind Lando Norris, Leclerc held onto his lead despite being under pressure from Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen throughout the race.
The competition was tight from the start at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit. A collision between Hamilton and Verstappen in the sixth lap prompted Verstappen to cut the corner, and Hamilton was subsequently handed a 10-second penalty for gaining an advantage by leaving the track.
After completing his first pit stop and serving his penalty, Hamilton plummeted to the 14th spot and had to fight hard to secure a ninth-place finish. Meanwhile, Leclerc maintained his rhythm in the race, successfully fending off Verstappen's attack in the final laps, aided by the Virtual Safety Car due to Carlos Sainz's car being forced to stop at the side of the track.
For Leclerc, this marked his seventh podium finish of the season and the 50th of his Formula One career, as well as the 836th podium for Scuderia Ferrari. He expressed his surprise at being able to replicate their Austin performance, commending his team's outstanding efforts. He chose to stick with medium tires, which proved to be the right call for him.
Team Principal Ferrari, Fred Vasseur, considered the outcome an exceptionally solid weekend for the team. They boasted impressive speed and executed a one-stop pit strategy that went according to plan. Their focus will now shift to Brazil with an optimistic momentum.
