Charles Leclerc is set to remain behind the wheel of the Ferrari Formula 1 team for a while longer, as theItalian outfit has announced an extended contract with the talented Monacorunner.
According to the official F1 website, Leclerc has sealed a multi-year deal that will keep him at the Maranello-based team beyond his current contract, which was set to expire in 2029.
This move confirms Leclerc's status as a key figure at Ferrari, having joined the team in 2018 and steadily increased his popularity since then.
Leclerc's relationship with Ferrari goes back even further, having undergone training at the team's driver academy in 2016 before making his debut at Sauber.
'I'm thrilled to continue my journey with Scuderia Ferrari,' Leclerc said, highlighting the team's importance in his life.
'It's more than just a team to me; it's a family that I've been dreaming of joining since childhood. After all these years, they've become like a second family to me.
'We've had our fair share of ups and downs together, but I'm confident in the team and grateful that we're still chasing our dream of bringing another World Championship title back to Maranello.
Throughout his 178-race stint with Ferrari, Leclerc has achieved 27 pole positions, 52 podiums, and eight wins, including a best finish of second place in the 2022 season.
Last season, Leclerc secured fifth place overall with 242 points from 24 races, but 2024 has seen him claim just two podiums from five events.
