Costa Rican Floods: California Woman's Desperate Search Continues

A California woman is missing in Costa Rica after being swept away by flash flooding while hiking.

Ashley Phillips, 30, vanished on June 2 as torrential rain and mudslides devastated the region.

The search for Phillips has been ongoing, but efforts have been paused due to the treacherous conditions.

A GoFundMe page set up by the family reads:

"For the past seven days, our family has been living through every parent's and sibling's worst nightmare. Our beloved daughter and sister, Ashley Phillips, has been missing in Costa Rica after severe weather caused flooding and mudslides during a hike.

The family is raising $20,000 to aid in the search efforts.

The Costa Rican National Emergency Commission has issued a nationwide green alert due to the heavy rain and saturated soils.

Despite the challenges, the family remains hopeful that Phillips will be found safely.
