Former F1 champion Sebastian Vettel has hinted at a possible team-up with Red Bull's Max Verstappen for the legendary 24-hour endurance race, Le Mans.
Vettel, who has won four world championships alongside Verstappen, told Sky Germany that they have spoken about the possibility of racing together in the future.
Vettel retired from F1 at the end of the 2022 season and has since been relatively inactive, only making sporadic appearances at Grand Prix events and other sporting events. However, he expressed interest in racing at Le Mans again.
'I also regularly stay in touch with Max, and a few years ago we talked about how, if there was a chance, we'd love to race at Le Mans together,' Vettel said.
Verstappen was asked about the possibility of racing with Vettel at Le Mans and replied, 'Yes, yes, I'd love to do that. But of course, only if we can compete for the win. You have to be in the right team.'
Spanish racing driver Fernando Alonso, who has won the Le Mans 24 Hours twice, said he'd be interested in joining forces with Vettle and Verstappen if his team was properly prepared.
Verstappen made his GT3 racing debut last year with a win and is now targeting a spot at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. However, he hasn't confirmed his participation yet.
'I'd love to do it. We're trying to make it happen, but I haven't been able to confirm it,' Verstappen said.
'But it's good that the organizers have changed the calendar, as it would give me more time to get used to the Nordschleife circuit. I'd need at least one extra test run to prepare for it.'
Verstappen added that racing with a new car at the circuit would also require more preparation.
Could we see a potential all-star lineup at the Le Mans 24 Hours? Only time will tell.
