Crazy Taxi is Back! Sega Announces Crazy Taxi: World Tour for 2027

At The Game Awards 2023, Sega announced the reboot of many of its classic games and franchises from its catalog. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance was one of them, but it was at the Xbox Games Showcase that the highly-anticipated Crazy Taxi: World Tour was revealed.

The iconic arcade racing game series, initially launched for arcade machines in 1999 and later ported to the Dreamcast as one of the console's most popular games, will make its debut on next-gen consoles in 2027 as Crazy Taxi: World Tour.

This marks the first time in 25 years that Crazy Taxi will be released on a home console and the first new official game since Crazy Taxi Tycoon for mobile devices in 2017. Crazy Taxi 3 was last released in 2002.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, boasting its signature vibrant art style and fast-paced racing. According to Sega, this new installment is about Axel chasing a mysterious masked villain who has stolen his beloved taxi.

Sega utilized AI-generated assets in the game's backgrounds, allowing developers to focus more on creative tasks. We've also got the first screenshots of what players can expect from the game.

The wait is almost over, and with major events happening at the start of June, it seems like the perfect timing for an announcement.

Could this mean the game is imminent?
