Cristiano Ronaldo Makes it to Top 5 Oldest Football Players in World Cup History

Cristiano Ronaldo will be 41 years and 126 days old when the 2026 World Cup begins on June 12. He will be playing alongside Lionel Messi, making them the players with the most World Cup appearances to date!

Ronaldo has made it to the top 5 oldest players in World Cup history. He ranks fourth, with Pat Jennings (Northern Ireland) at 41 years old, Roger Milla (Cameroon) at 42 years and 39 days, Faryd Mondragon (Colombia) at 43 years and 3 days, and Essam El Hadary (Egypt) at 45 years and 161 days leading the pack.

Interestingly, Cristiano Ronaldo might break Essam El Hadary's record if he plays in the 2030 World Cup and is 45 years old at the time.

Ronaldo is set to captain Portugal's national team in the 2026 World Cup. Ronaldo is still playing at a high level for his club Al Nassr, and there are no signs of him slowing down.

It's still unclear whether Ronaldo will be able to break the record for the oldest player in the World Cup.
