Cubs Fail to Repeat Magic, Fall to Rockies 5-2

The Cubs' hopes of back-to-back wins were dashed on Tuesday night as they fell to the Rockies 5-2. It was a familiar tale of missed opportunities, as the Cubs went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine on base.

Pete Crow-Armstrong continued his hot streak with a solo home run against Ryan Feltner in the bottom of the 1st. However, the Cubs were unable to build on that early lead. Starting pitcher Edward Cabrera had a strong first three innings, but things quickly fell apart as he struggled with control in the 5th inning, eventually forcing him to leave the game with a cramp in his throwing hand.

Ryan Rolison came on in relief, but couldn't prevent the Rockies from taking the lead. A single, an RBI double by Willi Castro, and a two-run homer by TJ Rumfield gave Colorado a 3-2 edge in the top of the 4th. The Cubs were unable to mount a comeback, and the Rockies added two more runs in the 5th inning to secure the 5-2 victory.

The Cubs have struggled in both games of this series, and it's clear they have work to do in turning around their production with runners on base. Unless they can make some adjustments, it's going to be a long night for the North Siders.

The rubber match is Wednesday night at 7:05pm CT, pitting Javier Assad against Sean Sullivan in a contest airing on Marquee with a radio feed on The Score. The Cubs will look to bounce back and salvage a win in this series.

Ringkasan

The Chicago Cubs couldn't repeat their magic from Monday night's dramatic comeback victory over the Colorado Rockies. They jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hold on.
