Eyewitnesses describe the scene as "nothing like they've ever seen before".

In Lanesville, Indiana, emergency responders are conducting water rescues after flash flooding rapidly inundated homes.

Video footage captured by local storm-tracking account Zach's Weather Page (@zachswxpage) shows the sheer volume of water rushing through the Harrison County community.

The account shared that "major flash flooding is happening now in Lanesville, Indiana. Water rescues are ongoing as flood waters rush into homes across southern Indiana".

One commenter, who has lived in Lanesville for over 40 years, expressed their shock at the scale of the flooding, saying "I've never seen anything like this".

If flash flooding is possible in your area, stay vigilant and evacuate quickly when necessary. Never drive through flooded roads, even if the water appears shallow, as the current may be stronger than it looks.

Keeping your phone charged, signing up for emergency alerts, storing important documents in waterproof containers, and identifying higher ground or a safe place to go can also help.

For homeowners and renters, reviewing flood risk can make a difference, including checking drainage around your property, protecting valuables, and learning whether flood insurance or emergency planning tools make sense where you live.
