Sean 'Diddy' Combs is serving a 50-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Although predictions about his departure have been revised numerous times over the past few months, a recent review has significantly advanced the date, while an appeal regarding his conviction is still under judicial review.
Projections indicate that Diddy could regain his freedom as early as 2028.
The 23rd of February 2028 appears as the new predicted date for the potential release from prison of the businessman, according to available information in the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), the main penal agency of the United States.
Previously, Diddy's scheduled release date was April 15, 2028. Before that, predictions circulated for late April, and the original date indicated June 4, 2028. With the recent changes, Diddy's release has been advanced by approximately three and a half months. He was arrested in September 2024, and the final verdict took place in October 2025.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has not provided an official explanation for this latest change. However, the journal Page Six revealed that Diddy had been included in November in a rehabilitation program for drug addiction, an initiative that, in the United States, often allows for reduced prison time.
In March of this year, Diddy's legal representatives filed a formal appeal against the court's decision. The defense argued that the total prison sentence, initially estimated at four years and now reduced to approximately three and a half years, was excessive and disproportionate to the offenses for which the 56-year-old rapper was convicted. The petition requests Diddy's release or, failing that, a review of the duration of his sentence, a final decision on the matter being still pending.
Aside from questions surrounding his conviction, Diddy's legal landscape remains in flux. A new lawsuit was filed against the rapper last week, adding yet another chapter to his recent judicial disputes.
