Emma Raducanu Soars into Queen's Final in London, Awaits Donna Vekic

The British 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, has won two matches on the first day of the final after rain delays earlier in the week. She'll meet Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist Donna Vekic in the final.

Raducanu is one win away from her biggest title since her 2021 US Open triumph as a qualifier. The 23-year-old Briton claimed two wins on Saturday, including a stirring 6-2, 6-2 defeat of world No. 19, Iva Jovic, in the semi-finals. She had beaten Kamila Rakhimova in a quarter-final match earlier in the day.

The home hope will meet an in-form Donna Vekic, who has won the first of two semis, knocking off another Brit, Katie Boulter, with her own impressive performance, 6-1, 6-3. Vekic is an especially dangerous foe on the low-bouncing grass courts.

"I've been improving with each match, which is usually how it goes on grass," the Croatian said. "I love this surface, I love this city."

However, the day belonged to Raducanu, the world No. 42, who hadn't won a match on tour since early March before this week. She played much like her 2021 US Open-winning version of herself, smacking 12 winners and breaking Jovic five times.

It was an incredibly electric atmosphere today as Raducanu took on Jovic in the semi-finals. The crowd was cheering her on as she dominated with her pace and depth of groundstrokes.

"It means everything to be doing it here in Queen's in front of everyone," Raducanu said of making it to the final. "The support today was electric. This week has been incredible, and I think that shows in my tennis and how I've been able to compete and stick out some really tough moments."
