Evergy Plaza is Hosting Watch Parties for World Cup Games

The inaugural match featuring team Argentina against Algeria will take place on June 16 at Kansas City Stadium. Fans can watch the live action at Evergy Plaza along with others.

According to Topeka area sports commissioner Mike Bell, there will be three watch parties at Evergy Plaza, starting with the June 16 game.

'We'll have food trucks, a little bit of entertainment, and then just show the big screen and enjoy what's going on,' Bell said. The events promise to be a treat for both kids and adults.

For those interested in collecting FIFA merchandise, Bell mentioned that none will be available for purchase, but there will be some limited giveaways available. To grab them, fans are advised to arrive a bit early.

The watch parties will kick off with the fountains turned on as early as 6:00 p.m. 'Bring the kids down; it's supposed to be nice, but those fountains will be rocking and rolling, and just a great family atmosphere,' Bell added.

While the watch parties are limited to three games, the events will not stop there. If there's no other activity at the plaza on the day of a game, it will continue to showcase the match.

With the perfect blend of entertainment and sports, fans can visit Topeka and fully immerse themselves in the excitement of the World Cup.

'We want you to come out, come out of the house and just experience what the World Cup is. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Experience it with others because it can be a lot of fun,' Bell said.

Restaurants in the downtown area will remain open. Food trucks, however, will not be available throughout the entire game due to late start times.
