F1 2025: Colapinto's Presence at Alpine Haunts Jack Doohan, Who Sees It as a Motivation

In recent news, Alpine has officially recruited former Williams reserve driver Franco Colapinto as one of their test drivers and potential replacements for their main driver, Jack Doohan, in the 2025 Formula 1 season.

However, Colapinto's arrival has sparked rumors that he might not just be a 'standby' option, but rather a strategic choice by Alpine to replace Doohan if he doesn't deliver a satisfying performance.

Not to mention, Alpine's team principal, Oliver Oakes, had earlier confirmed that Doohan would receive a 'fair chance' in 2025 and that the recruitment of Colapinto was part of their plan to have options for the future rather than putting pressure on Doohan's shoulders.

Doohan, who has been a reserve driver for Alpine for a long time, has officially been promoted to the main driver position alongside Pierre Gasly for the 2025 season, replacing Esteban Ocon, who has moved to Haas.

In response to the rumors, Doohan stated that the news had actually motivated him to strive for the best at Alpine in the 2025 season and secure his position in the team.

'I'm incredibly motivated. Honestly, I really hope to be on the track and prove myself with my hands and feet and control the car as well as possible,' he said, citing a F1 report on February 6, 2025.

MOREOVER, Doohan, who will be driving with the #7 number at Alpine, also revealed that his motivation stemmed from being part of one of the world's largest motorsport competitions and not wanting to waste the opportunity.

What's even more interesting is that he's one of the six rookies who will be debuting in the 2025 F1 season, a time when several top-tier drivers have moved teams, including a shocking move by Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari.

'It's a special time for me, I'm extremely passionate about being a part of it (F1). Being one of the 20 drivers on the grid, that's a privilege, and I hope to strengthen my position here (Alpine) for the future,' he concluded.
