F1 2025 Singapura: Oscar Piastri On Fire, Max Verstappen's Rival Emerges

F1 fans were in for a treat as the night race in Singapore got underway. As always, the city circuit at Marina Bay was a difficult one to predict.

The 5.087 km track is one that drivers love, but one that also holds a lot of surprises. Like every other city circuit, parts of the track run directly against walls or crash barriers on both sides, making things slightly tricky for the cars.

Day one saw two practice sessions, on Friday the 3rd of October. None of the experts predicted that Fernando Alonso would top the time sheets in FP1.

Yes, Alonso has won the GP in Singapore twice in the past, but that was back when he was a force to be reckoned with at Renault. In 2025, as an Aston Martin driver, he's definitely not at the front of the grid anymore.

It didn't come as a surprise when Oscar Piastri came out on top in FP2, though. He's the current championship leader and has a 25-point lead over his teammate, Lando Norris. They look to seal the Constructors' Championship in Singapore – a win they secured last year.

The surprise of the session was Isack Hadjar, who managed to finish second. What made it even more astonishing was that he was able to overtake Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, to take third place.

Don't let his disappointment fool you – Verstappen's focus was on one thing: beating the McLaren duo. 'It's not a bad result. I just need to gain a bit more pace to challenge them in qualifying,' the Red Bull driver said.

As the drivers gear up for qualifying, one thing's for sure – the Singaporean night race will throw up many surprises. And for Verstappen, it's a chance to finally claim his first-ever victory in Singapore. The Dutch driver has never won here, and this could be his time to shine.
