F1 GP Monaco 2026: 78 Laps of Thrills at the Iconic Monte Carlo Circuit

MerahPutih.com - The F1 GP Monaco is once again in the spotlight as the 72nd series kicks off on the weekend of June 5-7, 2026. This prestigious racing event, known for its unique challenges, promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Different from most other racing series, the F1 GP Monaco 2026 remains the only race that doesn't meet the FIA's minimum distance requirement of 305 kilometers. This season, the total distance covered will be approximately 260.286 kilometers over 78 laps.

The F1 GP Monaco 2026 introduces several regulatory changes compared to the previous season. After implementing the use of three sets of tires in the previous edition, the FIA has now removed this rule and reverted to the classic strategy format with a single pit stop.

Additionally, the FIA has decided to discontinue the use of Straight Mode (SM) during this racing weekend. This decision was made due to the circuit's characteristics, which feature minimal straight tracks and lack adequate run-off areas.

The Monte Carlo circuit boasts a length of 3.337 meters, with a total of 19 turns, comprising eight left turns and 11 right turns.

The level of difficulty on the track has increased due to the recent resurfacing of certain sections. The area from Turn 19 to Turn 1, as well as the sector from Turn 7 to the tunnel entrance, require special attention.

The new surface may cause graining on the tires, making tire management a crucial factor in determining the outcome of the race.

The narrow character of the Monte Carlo circuit limits overtaking opportunities, making the qualifying session on Saturday (6/6) a critical factor in determining the winner, with around 90% of the victory chances decided during this session.

To tackle the Monte Carlo asphalt, the sole tire supplier has provided three softest compound options: C3 (Hard), C4 (Medium), and C5 (Soft).

The return to normal regulatory format makes pit stop strategy a vital element once again. A small mistake in determining the pit lane entry time can significantly impact the position on the track.

A unique aspect of Monaco lies in its very narrow pit lane. Due to this, the speed limit is restricted to 60 km/h, lower than the 80 km/h limit used in most Formula 1 circuits.

This results in a drive-through time of around 20 seconds, an important consideration in team strategy calculations.

The weather is another highly unpredictable variable in Monte Carlo. If it rains during the race, the risk of accidents and incidents increases dramatically, potentially leading to the deployment of the Safety Car or a red flag, which could alter the course of the race in an instant.
