More than a week after the Monaco Grand Prix, the battle between Alpine and Red Bull is far from over. Despite Pierre Gasly's official reinstatement to the third step on the podium, the trophy won initially by Isack Hadjar has still not been returned to the French team.
Following Alpine's successful appeal, the stewards have annulled the penalties imposed on Gasly for excessive speed in the pit lane. This decision allowed the Frenchman to recover his Monaco podium, relegating Hadjar to fourth place. But while the rankings were modified, the celebrated Monte-Carlo trophy remains in the hands of Red Bull.
Red Bull keeps the suspense
The Austrian team has not yet ruled out a new action. Like McLaren, it has submitted an intention to appeal to examine the stewards' decision in detail before deciding on the next steps to take. The heart of the debate revolves around the measurement instruments used in the pit lane. According to the conclusions of the investigation, some data may have been falsified by a calibration problem, leading to an overestimation of Gasly's actual speed.
Red Bull's director, Laurent Mekies, emphasizes that the issue goes beyond the Monaco case.
"We want to ensure that the final results are fair for the competitors and the fans," he says.
The Frenchman also reminds that all teams have been using the same measurement systems for years and adapting their procedures accordingly.
"No system is perfect, but we have been using this method for a long time, and the teams have learned to work with its limitations," he notes.
Until a new procedure is implemented, an unprecedented situation persists: Pierre Gasly is officially third in the Monaco Grand Prix... but his trophy remains at Red Bull.
An episode that adds a new chapter to one of the most contentious cases of the 2026 season.
