Fernando Mendoza vs. Kirk Cousins: The Battle for QB Supremacy

It's not uncommon for NFL teams to enter the regular season with a somewhat uncertain quarterback situation. But this year, there are multiple teams facing quarterback battles that could potentially make or break their season.

Let's take a closer look at the five most enticing quarterback competitions around the league in 2026.

The Las Vegas Raiders have a quarterback battle that's more of a formality than anything else. Kirk Cousins is the clear frontrunner, and Fernando Mendoza is looking to challenge him for the starting job. Mendoza has been working hard to climb the depth chart, but it's still early days for the young quarterback.

The Minnesota Vikings' quarterback competition is a fascinating one. After weeks of speculation, Kyler Murray's status as the clear favorite was thrown into question. J.J. McCarthy has made some impressive moves, and the question on everyone's mind is: what does it mean for Murray's chances?

The Atlanta Falcons' quarterback competition is looking more like a mirage than anything else. Tagovailoa is competing with Penix, but the latter is still recovering from a knee injury. The coaching staff wants to create a competitive environment, but it's hard to see how that's working out.

The Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition is heating up, with Shedeur Sanders pushing Deshaun Watson for the starting job. Sanders has made significant improvements in his gameplay, and it's not clear who will emerge as the winner.

The Arizona Cardinals have a quarterback competition that's not entirely clear-cut. Brissett wants to be paid like a starter, but the team doesn't seem interested in giving him more than his current salary. Could it be that Carson Beck is the surprise candidate for the starting job?

The outcome of these quarterback battles will have a significant impact on the teams' performances in the 2026 season. Stay tuned to find out who will emerge as the winners.
