Based on reports from Italian media, the project had initially received approval but was later quietly halted by Ferrari's management, allegedly disappointing Hamilton who had been actively pushing for the F44's realization.

While Ferrari hasn't provided an official reason, internal sources suggest concerns that creating a model too closely tied to one individual, rather than a significant moment in the company's history, could erode the brand's exclusive image.

Historically, legendary names like the F40, F50, or Enzo have been used to commemorate milestones in the brand's history, not as personal editions.
