FIFA Fan Fest Houston Keeps a Close Eye on the Weather Amid Flooding Warnings and Rain Threats.

Soccer fans are gearing up to gather at FIFA Fan Fest Houston on Wednesday as Portugal takes on the Democratic Republic of the Congo. However, organizers are closely watching the weather due to flood warnings and ongoing rain forecasts across the area. Fan Fest officials have a day-to-day weather operations plan in place due to the latest flood concerns and potential for additional storms. They are also working closely with the City of Houston's Office of Emergency Management and public safety partners to ensure visitors receive timely information about changing weather conditions. Holly de Beer, co-director of FIFA Fan Fest Houston, assures that safety is their main concern. 'We are monitoring the situation, making the fans on site aware of any weather in the area, with notifications on the boards as well as notifications over the microphones,' she said. 'If we see that the pattern is moving closer, we actually are evacuating.' De Beer emphasized the importance of providing accurate and updated information throughout the event, both for local residents and visitors, whether they are attending activities inside Fan Fest or traveling around the city. Fan Fest officials have already adjusted operations this week due to inclement weather threats and will continue to evaluate weather conditions daily. The match between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. at Houston Stadium in NRG Park. Fans planning to attend Fan Fest are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts, follow event announcements, and be prepared for potential schedule changes if severe weather develops.
