Franco Colapinto:

Formula 1 returns to the track for the highly anticipated Monaco Grand Prix, marking the beginning of the European leg. Franco Colapinto, Alpine’s talented Argentine driver, has had a remarkable two-race stint, securing 14 points. He expressed his excitement about the upcoming round, stating, “It has been a very busy week off for the team since the race in Montreal and a very positive one as we look to maintain our strong momentum.”

Colapinto spent the time off in the simulator, working diligently to prepare for the European season and Monaco, one of the most electrifying races. Despite the packed schedule, he made time for a quick visit to Paris on his birthday.

With points in Miami and Canada, Colapinto is feeling optimistic about the future at Alpine. He described the Monaco street circuit as one of the most thrilling tracks for a racing driver, with walls close enough to make every lap a challenge.

Colapinto also highlighted the significance of qualifying, citing that Saturday is “probably the most important day of the whole year” on this circuit. Given the difficulty of overtaking on this circuit, a good qualifying result could be the key to scoring points.

This is the Monaco street circuit. Colapinto is going through his best spell in Formula 1, with two impressive performances in the last two races: sixth place (eight points) at the Canadian GP and seventh place (six points) at the Miami GP. He has 15 points in total and sits 11th in the drivers’ championship, led by Kimi Antonelli with 131 points after winning four of the five Grands Prix held so far.

Alpine has turned things around after a dismal 2025, finished last in the constructors’ championship, and is in good form, currently sitting fifth in the standings with 35 points, 14 more than Racing Bulls, its closest pursuer.

The Monaco Grand Prix will begin next Friday with the first two free practice sessions, with Franco Colapinto as one of the main attractions.
