Franco Colapinto Takes Over from Jack Doohan at Alpine Team

KabarOto.com reports that the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, or Alpine, has confirmed that Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan for the next five Grands Prix, starting with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy.

Alpine is currently using the A525 chassis with a Renault engine and will be the official ride for Colapinto. He will be joining forces with Pierre Gasly, the French driver.

After a disappointing season, Doohan struggled to match his teammate Gasly's performance, and his struggles continued at the last Grand Prix in Miami, where he withdrew from the race after a collision with Liam Lawson (Visa Cash App Racing Bulls) on the first lap.

The Alpine team has announced that Doohan's seat will be filled by Colapinto for the next five rounds, following the Argentine driver's impressive performance as a reserve driver for Williams in 2024.

"As part of an ongoing review of its driver lineup, the team has made the decision to rotate one of its driver positions for the next five Grands Prix of the FIA Formula One World Championship 2025," a statement from Alpine read.

Flavio Briatore, the executive advisor of Alpine, added that the team is in a highly competitive environment this year, with a highly competitive car that has been drastically improved by the team over the past 12 months. As a result, they are in a position where they need to rotate their lineup.

We'll have to wait and see after the next five rounds whether this rotation has any positive impact on the team's performance.
