From Frustration to Triumph: Twins Break Through Deadlock in 12th Inning for Thrilling Win

CLEVELAND – And, finally, they got a hit. And then another.

After inning after inning of frustration, Trevor Larnach and Luke Keaschall poked back-to-back RBI singles off of Erik Sabrowski giving the Twins a hard-earned 3-1 win in 12 innings Thursday against the Guardians at Progressive Field and a series split at a ballpark that has historically given them fits.

The Guardians had elected to walk Royce Lewis intentionally with two outs to get the lefty-lefty matchup with Larnach, and he made them pay with a single through the left side. Keaschall followed with another, and rookie Jack Anderson made the lead stand up.

That followed missed opportunities in the ninth, 10th, and 11th. The Twins got a leadoff single in the ninth but hit into a double play, then went 0-for-6 despite the automatic runner in the 10th and 11th before breaking through.

And while Larnach had the biggest hit, the real heroes for Minnesota on Thursday were their relievers. Andrew Morris, Yoendrys Gomez, Tommy Nance, Taylor Rogers, and Anderson combined for five shutout innings after the Twins had tied the game in the eighth.

Starter Taj Bradley was superb but received no decision, pitching seven innings and allowing only a solo homer from Patrick Bailey. He dodged three leadoff walks to keep the Twins in the game and hand it off to the bullpen to bring it home.
