FSIS Announces Urgent Beef Recall: Nearly 30,000 Pounds of Beef in Question Across 2 States

Luckily, no illnesses have been reported.

If you picked up any beef for a late-summer BBQ, you may want to check where it came from. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) sent out a recall notice for nearly 30,000 pounds of beef as it was dswithout going through a required U.S. safety check.

On August 7, the FSIS announced that Corte Argentino USA LLC, based in Aventura, FL, is recalling approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef products imported from Argentina. The beef was produced between May 15 and May 20, 2026, and has use-or-freeze-by dates between September 15 and September 20, 2026, printed on the label.

The recall includes the following five cuts:

The products also have the Argentinian establishment number "EST. N° OF. 2025" and shipping mark "26644-AA" printed on the packaging. The beef was distributed to clients and retailers in Florida and Texas.

According to the FSIS notice, the beef entered the United States without going through import reinspection, which is a mandatory federal check required before any imported meat, poultry, or egg product can enter U.S. commerce. It's a process, the FSIS explained, which typically includes reviewing documentation, labeling, and packaging, examining the product's "general condition," and, in some cases, sampling for contaminants. The FSIS discovered the lapse in inspection for the recalled beef during a routine inspection.

Because the beef skipped that required step, FSIS has classified the recall as Class I, its highest-risk designation. As it noted in the recall release, a Class I is "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

Luckily, the FSIS has not reported any illnesses in connection with this recall so far. However, it noted that "anyone concerned about an illness or injury should contact a healthcare provider."

If you bought raw beef labeled with the FrigorIfico Gorina SAIC name in Florida or Texas, the FSIS says don't eat it. Additionally, the agency warned that people may still have it in their refrigerators or freezers, so check before you cook.

FSIS says it will update its website once the full retail distribution list is available, which you can check here.
