G7 Leaders Meet in France to Address Global Concerns

US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to help end the Russia-Ukraine war after a productive meeting with G7 leaders in France.

Following a "very good" meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and G7 leaders at a summit in Evian-les-Bains, Trump stated that he will do whatever it takes to bring an end to the war.

"I'm gonna do whatever I can," Trump said, emphasizing the need for Russia to make a peace deal. He added that too many young men were dying on the battlefield on both sides.

Trump's comments come as Zelenskyy joined talks with the G7, including the US, France, the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the European Union. He also spoke with Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the summit.

Zelenskyy stated that the key focus is to strengthen air defense for Ukraine and advance diplomacy to make Russia end its war.

He received important commitments from the G7, including more air defense missiles, a winter support package, and increased pressure on Russia. The US has also pledged to provide a backstop across these lines of effort.

European diplomats described the meeting as constructive, noting that the tide is turning in favor of Ukraine.

G7 leaders also discussed the Iran-US peace deal and held a working lunch focusing on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and identifying alternative energy routes.

French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for a solid, serious agreement to be finalized.

Macron stated that France and other Western partners are ready to take action quickly to help peacefully reopen the strait.

The agreement, which was digitally signed on Monday, opens a 60-day window for complex negotiations. These negotiations will include Iran's highly enriched uranium and the lifting of sanctions.

Trump expects the second stage of negotiations with Iran to be easier.
