George Russell Understands Why Verstappen Might Leave Formula 1

George Russell, known for his rivalry with Max Verstappen, gave a very sporting answer when asked how he would feel if Verstappen were to retire from Formula 1: 'Formula 1 is bigger than any driver, so you don't want to lose Max, because I think we all enjoy racing against Max.

Russell provided his opinion on why Verstappen is so critical of Formula 1's new rules: he, and Red Bull, don't have a competitive car, unlike Mercedes, who are leading the constructors' championship, with Russell second in the drivers' championship behind teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

'The complaints he has now are different from the complaints of Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren, because we're at the front of the grid. It's reasonable, and you understand and recognize his frustration.'

Russell stated he didn't enjoy driving in 2022, 'the car was big, heavy, not fun to drive. But he doesn't have the same complaints because he's winning.'

'I can totally understand why driving the Nordschleife puts a smile on his face. I've driven hundreds of laps around it in the simulator. And I would love to have the chance to go and race around the Nordschleife. But my goal now is to become a Formula 1 world champion,' Russell continued.
