SEGA has finally unveiled the reboot of Crazy Taxi during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. The latest installment, titled Crazy Taxi: World Tour, is scheduled for release in 2027.
This announcement is huge news for long-time fans, considering the Crazy Taxi series hasn't had a major console release in a while. The existence of Crazy Taxi: World Tour was first hinted at in 2024 when Sega confirmed a new Crazy Taxi project was in development.
At the time, the company mentioned a shift in direction from single-player experiences to a more expansive open-world format. Now, through the Xbox Showcase, the project has officially been named.
Prior to this announcement, the Crazy Taxi social media account shared a teaser featuring a taxi's rooftop light blinking. Another hint came from the band The Offspring, whose song 'All I Want' was heavily featured in the first Crazy Taxi game and can be heard in the latest trailer.
In fact, their new single with Electric Callboy, 'Let The Good Times Roll', also showcases a taxi-inspired vibe reminiscent of the game's main vehicle. Crazy Taxi: World Tour marks the series' first major console release in over two decades, following Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller on the Xbox in 2002.
This move aligns with Sega's strategy to revive several of its classic IPs, including Streets of Rage and Jet Set Radio.
