Recently, all members of BTS confirmed their decision regarding this year’s Grammy Awards.

They all collectively agreed not to submit an entry this time, garnering much attention online.

BTS’s Decision For This Year’s Grammy Awards Sparks Massive Response

Not long after, the Grammy CEO, Harvey Mason Jr., posted a message in response to their decision.

I am saddened to hear that BTS has chosen not to participate in the Grammy Awards process this year, but as a music creator, I understand and respect their decision.

Additionally, he clarified the misunderstandings regarding the new Asian Pop category.

I do want to clarify something that seems to be getting lost in the conversation. The Asian Pop category was created to celebrate the depth, diversity and extraordinary growth of pop artistry coming out of Asia. The spirit of this new category is to shine a dedicated spotlight on these important artists. More categories mean more artists’ work is recognized. It’s never to divide, but to expand who is recognized by our 15,000 Grammy voters.

However, their response fueled more anger for K-Netizens.

• “The response makes me more angry.”
• “If this isn’t a divide, then what is? Why don’t you separate Asia, the U.S., and Europe then?”
• “I hate their mindset that everyone has to be recognized by them.”
• “Who do you think you guys are?”
• “It annoys me that their response was so predictable.”
• “They don’t want to give the main award to them, and yet they want to make their show known, and they want to make money off the broadcast and YouTube views.”

Meanwhile, fans praised another artist’s response to BTS’s decision.
