Hezbollah Commander Behind Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq Confirmed Killed

The IDF has confirmed the killing of Ali Mousa Daqduq, a senior Hezbollah commander who played a key role in establishing Iran-backed Shia militias in Iraq.

Daqduq, who was identified as 'senior Hezbollah commander who held a series of 5 senior positions within Hezbollah,' was responsible for advancing terrorist attacks and combat operations against Israel and IDF soldiers.

In 2007, Daqduq orchestrated the kidnapping and murder of five American soldiers, an incident that was linked to the Iranian-backed Khazali Network.

The Khazali Network, led by Qais Khazali, is a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and was responsible for numerous attacks against Coalition forces in Iraq.

Daqduq's death was confirmed by the IDF on X and was hailed by Qais Khazali as 'among the first to answer the call of duty during the American occupation of Iraq.'

The killing of Daqduq highlights the ongoing efforts by Israel to target senior Hezbollah commanders responsible for terrorist activities.

The US government added Daqduq to its list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists in November 2011 for his role in establishing Iran-backed militias that were responsible for the murder of at least 600 American soldiers in Iraq.

The Iranian-backed militias that Daqduq and Hezbollah spawned are now powerful entities in Iraq and Syria, wielding significant political and military power in the region.

In 2007, Daqduq was captured by the US military and later transferred to Iraqi custody and released in 2012 after being acquitted of terrorism charges.
