In a heartwarming exclusive, actor Jeff Daniels opens up about why he's invested in opening a new restaurant in his beloved hometown of Chelsea, Michigan. The Brink of War alum has long been known for his dedication to his craft, but his latest venture is a testament to his commitment to the place where he grew up.
For Daniels, who has become a household name thanks to his breakout roles in Newsroom and Dumb and Dumber, the decision to open up a restaurant in his hometown was driven by a desire to give something back to the community that has given him so much. 'It's the one thing that I've always wanted to do, and I finally had the chance,' he explains in an exclusive interview with People. When asked why now was the right time to make his dream a reality, Daniels reveals, 'The reason I did it now is because I finally have the time to devote to it.'
'I've been in this business for a long time, and I've been fortunate enough to have had a lot of success,' notes Daniels, who has been in the industry for over four decades. 'But at the end of the day, it's not about the numbers or the awards. It's about the people, and the community that's been my home for so long.'
For those in the know, Chelsea, Michigan may seem like an unlikely place for a Hollywood star to open a restaurant. But for Daniels, it's a place he's deeply connected to, having spent much of his childhood there. 'It's a small town, but it's got a big heart,' he says, beaming with pride. 'And I knew that if I could bring even a little bit of that Hollywood magic to my hometown, I'd be doing something special.'
So what does the menu look like for this new venture? According to Daniels, the focus is on good old-fashioned comfort food, with a dash of creativity. 'We're talking burgers, sandwiches, salads – all sorts of classics,' he explains. 'But we're also going to have some more unique items, like our famous chicken wings and artisanal pizzas.'
The restaurant, which is expected to open its doors later this year, is just one part of Daniels' ambitious plans to revitalize the local community. 'I want to create a hub that brings people together,' he explains, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. 'A place where locals can come and enjoy a great meal, and where visitors can come and experience the real Chelsea.'
As for what the future holds for The Brink of War star, Daniels is tight-lipped – for now. But it's clear that his commitment to his hometown runs deep, and that he's got big plans for this new venture. 'I'm really excited to see where this journey takes me,' he says with a grin. 'And I know that no matter what, I'll always be proud to call Chelsea my home.'
