Honda's End of Partnership with Red Bull Racing: A New Chapter for Max Verstappen

After 7 years of collaboration, Honda has ended their partnership with Red Bull Racing. The Japanese manufacturer will now supply engines to Aston Martin. However, their connection with Max Verstappen remains strong. Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe expressed his sadness about parting ways with Red Bull, but also looked forward to their new journey.

'It was a sad moment during the Abu Dhabi GP 2025, but on the other hand, we're excited for our new journey ahead,' Watanabe said in an interview with FormulaPassion and quoted by motorsportweek.' Watanabe praised the collaboration between Honda and Verstappen, calling him an 'unbelievable driver' who treated the team with honesty and respect.

'I'm grateful to have worked with such an incredible driver, someone who has always been truthful and respectful to our team. That's something we truly appreciate from him. And that's why our collaboration has been so successful,' Watanabe said, thanking the Dutch driver.

'We've always had the same goal – to reach the top.'

In a nostalgic tone, Watanabe reminisced about Honda's time with McLaren, when the legendary Ayrton Senna won three world championships, cementing the company's legendary status in Japan.

'Max is now as popular in Japan as Senna was back in the day,' Watanabe said, acknowledging the Dutch driver's significant impact on the company. 'People now associate him with Honda, just like during Senna's time. He's truly significant to our company.'

'Max's attitude and trust in our engineers always motivate us. Max will always be in our hearts,' Watanabe concluded.
