Honoring Ayrton Senna: McLaren Unveils Special Livery at the 2024 Monaco GP

Jakarta, BincangBincangMobil - Out of the seven drivers who have won world championships for McLaren, none are as iconic and closely associated with the team as the late Ayrton Senna.

McLaren is more than just Senna's final team. He ended his racing days at Williams due to his tragic passing at the 1994 San Marino GP.

Senna's partnership with McLaren from 1988 to 1993 is the most memorable one in his career, where he achieved 35 wins, three world championships, and four constructors' championships.

To commemorate this unforgettable partnership, McLaren will unveil a special livery honoring Senna on their MCL38 at the Monaco GP this weekend (May 24-26).

Although Senna's passing has been previously commemorated at the recent Emilia Romagna GP, the Monaco GP was chosen for its significance in Senna's career. He dominated the Monaco circuit, winning six times, including five consecutive victories from 1989.

"We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate Ayrton Senna's incredible life and racing legacy through this special livery," said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren. "Senna is F1's greatest icon and McLaren's most accomplished driver."

At the Monaco GP, McLaren's MCL38 will feature a Brazilian flag-inspired design that was a distinctive feature of Senna's helmets. This unique livery is a result of McLaren's collaboration with Senna Global and partner OKX.

Joining McLaren in Monaco will be a limited-edition Senna car, painted by hand by McLaren Special Operations and featuring a dot-matrix portrait of the legendary driver.

"It's an honor to acknowledge Ayrton through this collaborative effort between McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive," said Bianca Senna, Ayrton's niece, representing Senna Global.

Here's hoping this tribute sparks inspiration and motivation for drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to recreate Senna's legacy at one of the most prestigious circuits in F1.
