The Iranian military has announced a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping activities in response to heightened tensions and hostilities in the region.

A statement from the Khatam Al-Anbiya Headquarters, published on national television, asserted that the strategic waterway is closed to all ships, including tankers and merchant vessels, due to security concerns.

The Iranian military warned that any movement within the Strait of Hormuz would be subject to targeting.

This decision comes in the wake of ongoing 'American aggression' and a recent US attack on Hormozgan Province in southern Iran, according to the Iranian military.

The Khatam Al-Anbiya Headquarters also rejected US claims that ships could still pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier reports from Iranian media detailed explosions, air defense system activation, and airstrikes at various locations in southern Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Minab, Jask, Qeshm, and Sirik.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that US forces had launched additional 'defensive' strikes against targets in Iran.
