Israel's National Security Minister Cancels US Trip Over Visa Hurdles

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has canceled his upcoming trip to the US due to difficulties obtaining a visa.

The requirement to provide fingerprints to obtain a US visa was reportedly behind the visa difficulties, according to Channel 13's Suleiman Maswadeh.

As an Israeli minister traveling for diplomatic purposes, Ben-Gvir should have been traveling on a diplomatic visa and foregone the fingerprinting process, noted Maswadeh.

In a twist, Ben-Gvir's office released a statement claiming that the purpose of the trip was personal, and the minister did not want to 'exploit his status,' opting instead to travel on a regular tourist visa.
