Japanese Tanker Successfully Navigates Strait of Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions
A tanker owned by Japan's energy company, ENEOS, has successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz, delivering a shipment of 2.15 million barrels of oil from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. This marks the second Japanese tanker to do so since regional tensions flared in the Middle East, following in the footsteps of the Idemitsu Maru which arrived in Japan on May 25.
The ENEOS Endeavor, which docked at the ENEOS terminal in the port of Kiire before unloading a portion of its cargo, continued on to the Negishi refinery in Yokohama, where it unloaded the remaining 1.25 million barrels of oil. This amount will be enough to keep the plant operational for eight days.
There are currently 38 Japanese-bound vessels, including seven oil tankers, still navigating the Persian Gulf.
As the situation in the Middle East remains uncertain, it is reassuring to see tankers successfully passing through the critical Strait of Hormuz.
