Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was one of the stocks Jim Cramer discussed during a recent episode of Mad Money, as he noted a shift in investor sentiment favoring defensive sectors. In his explanation, Cramer revealed why Apple's stock is being sold, stating:
Whatever you do, don't take the selling in the stocks of Apple or NVIDIA personally. I believe most of that selling is from people anticipating a potential profit from the SpaceX IPO, and they need funds to cover their anticipated gains. These two stocks have become significant sources of capital for new ventures. People feel more confident about taking profits than incurring losses. For now, they're essentially contributing to the SpaceX cause. Understanding this, I'm not speaking negatively about either stock. The opposite, I'm in explanation mode here. I have a strong affinity for Apple and NVIDIA, own them, and don't trade them.
I'm simply stating that this is what happens in the lead-up to a massive IPO. As I've been warning investors about the oversupply issue for months now, Apple and NVIDIA are readily available for sale, and some investors can't resist the profit potential, even as a significant portion of the funds raised by SpaceX or other AI firms like Anthropic or OpenAI might be used to purchase NVIDIA equipment. Meanwhile, Apple is investing relatively little in AI due to its collaboration with Alphabet, which results in Google being the default search engine. This same deal now extends to Gemini.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is a well-known technology company that manufactures, markets, and sells innovative products such as the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and wearables, as well as offering app ecosystem support, AppleCare, and cloud tools.
While acknowledging Apple's potential as an investment opportunity, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk.
