This sensitive issue has garnered sharp criticism from the president of her home country. In response to the controversy, Karol G took to Instagram Stories to address the issue, stating that the song's lyrics were taken out of context.

One of the criticized parts of the lyrics describes a 14-year-old criminal who gains attention by entering a nightclub.
