Although the exact amount of her honor was not disclosed, headliners at Coachella typically earn millions of dollars, or around IDR 50-100 billion, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead of adjusting her payment, Karol G chose to invest much more.

The money she spent from her own pocket was used for various aspects of production, from visual effects to intense rehearsals and stage design, to bring a spectacular performance with high exposure.

'No one finds this moment trivial,' says JBeau Lewis, UTA agent representing Karol G, as quoted by Just Jared.

'Every artist and their team must determine the value of this opportunity for themselves. A strategic artist will see the bigger picture. How Coachella, both live and through livestream, can affect their career trajectory.'

Speaking further, he stated that the production costs alone were three times more than Karol G's payment. He also emphasized that this performance is not just a 'one-time show.'

'Karol doesn't see this as a one-time show. This is part of a larger plan. She is an artist who aims to dominate the global scene.'

With over 100,000 viewers attending live and millions more through livestream, this move is seen as a long-term investment to strengthen her position as one of the biggest stars.

Although Coachella has not released an official statement on the number of livestream viewers, the festival is described as a 'massive magnet' that attracts millions of global viewers each year.

Based on this estimation, if headliners typically earn millions of dollars, Karol G's total expenditure could reach tens of millions of dollars.
