Actor Kim Soo Hyun's damages lawsuit, stemming from a massive scandal connected to the late Kim Sae Ron, has seen a swift development. On June 10, the Suwon District Court convened for the third hearing in a case where health supplement company FromBIO is seeking 3.90 billion KRW (approximately $2.55 million USD) in damages from Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist.
The lawsuit was initiated by FromBIO, which alleged that the controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun damaged the brand's image. The company claims Kim Soo Hyun's involvement in a scandal involving dating Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor led to these damages. Kim Soo Hyun and Gold Medalist have consistently denied these allegations.
The hearing garnered significant attention, particularly as it followed Kim Soo Hyun's recent legal victory against Kim Se Ui, head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute. This marked a notable moment in his ongoing legal battles.
However, the defense hearing for Kim Soo Hyun concluded surprisingly quickly, lasting only five minutes. The court indicated that it required further clarification regarding the specific actions that allegedly violated Kim Soo Hyun's contractual obligation to maintain his public image and dignity.
To move forward, the judges instructed FromBIO to organize its claims and supporting evidence into a detailed chart. They must clearly explain why each alleged action constitutes a violation. Once these materials are reviewed, the court plans to narrow down the disputed issues before Kim Soo Hyun's side submits their response.
The court intervened in the high-stakes lawsuit involving actor Kim Soo Hyun and supplement company FromBIO, seeking clarification on contractual breaches.
