Knicks Legend Taj Gibson Reveals Tom Thibodeau's Sweet Reaction to the Team's NBA Finals Win

It's been a year since Tom Thibodeau was fired as head coach of the Knicks, but his legacy lives on. Taj Gibson, a longtime Knicks center, revealed that Thibodeau was over the moon with the team's NBA Finals win.

According to Gibson, Thibodeau had 'no malice' towards the Knicks' success and was 'proud of the guys for what they accomplished.'

'He was so happy for the guys, he was just really proud of the guys for what they accomplished,' Gibson said in a recent interview.

Thibodeau, of course, oversaw the Knicks' rise from laughingstock to perennial contender during his five-year tenure with the team. New York reached the postseason in four of those seasons, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2025.

However, after the Knicks shockingly parted ways with Thibodeau, it seemed like a new era was dawning on the Big Apple. But despite their departure, Thibodeau's ties to the team remain unbroken, according to Gibson.

'I was like, 'Man, that's just love,' Gibson said. 'To have that humility and just knowing that you trained these players and have put so much into them, and to know that they finally made that final leap to really take the top and go to the championship of New York City.'
