Korean Star Dex Announces Sudden Halt to YouTube Activities, Explains Reasons

A Korean star, known for his YouTube channel Dex101, has announced a halt to his activities on the platform. With over 1.16 million subscribers, Dex has built a strong fan base with his uniquely honest charm and relatable personality. He has been loved for his appearances on various variety shows and content, and his YouTube channel has been a significant part of his career.

On the 18th, a video titled 'Taking A Break From My 7-Year YouTube Journey' was released on Dex's YouTube channel. In the video, YouTuber Mimiminu asked Dex, 'Why are you taking a break from YouTube?' to which Dex candidly shared his feelings. He said, 'It's already been six years on YouTube. I started right after I was discharged in 2020. Honestly, taking a break now feels really regrettable. This year, our team is working well together, and we're doing things I want to do, so it's the most fun period I've had.'

Dex continued, 'There are several reasons. Some personal, some related to my condition. After considering everything, I thought taking a break is the right choice to show a better version of myself.' He also asked for understanding from fans, acknowledging, 'It might seem like a sudden decision.' Chef Kwon Sung Joon, winner of Netflix's Culinary Class Wars, who appeared together in the video, said, 'Dex isn't the type to just hang around and play.' Mimiminu also expressed support, saying, 'I believe he'll show a new side of himself somewhere.'

Dex also spoke about his break period, saying, 'This is the longest break I've ever taken,' and adding, 'I don't think my return will be this year.' He explained, 'The industry forgets you after just a month or two off, so taking such a long break is a big decision. But I didn't spend much time agonizing over it because the reasons for deciding were clear.' This decision may have significant implications for his career and fan base, as his YouTube channel has been a crucial part of his success.

As Dex takes a break from YouTube, his fans are left wondering what the future holds for him. Will he focus on other aspects of his career, such as variety shows or music?
