Walter Parazaider, one of the most beloved founding members of rock band Chicago, has left us at the age of 81. His wife, JacLynn, shared the devastating news that he passed away peacefully in hospice, surrounded by her love and care.
The news is a heavy blow to fans of the iconic band, who have been a part of the music scene since 1967. Walter's remarkable contributions to Chicago's success, both on and off stage, will be deeply missed. As JacLynn put it, "He had put up a good fight with Alzheimer's and unfortunately, it ended tonight. We are going to miss him for sure.
Walter spent 49 incredible years as a member of Chicago, retiring in 2016. During his tenure, he was an integral part of the band's brass/woodwind section alongside Lee Loughnane and James Pankow. Together, they crafted some of the band's most beloved hits, including "25 or 6 to 4," "Saturday in the Park," and "If You Leave Me Now."
Taken into account with immense love and gratitude for the years of devotion, Walter is survived by his loving wife, JacLynn, and their two beautiful daughters, Laura and Felicia.
A memorial service will be organized to honor Walter's legacy, and fans from around the world will come together to celebrate his life and music.
